The Philips Hue White A21 bulb at 1600 lumens sounds brilliant. Those new upgrades look (mostly) great though. Replacing the broken Somneo with a Hue Bloom would be a downgrade and make it more complicated for her to use. She has always had trouble waking up in the morning, but with the Somneo she said she pretty much always wakes up before it gets to the alarm stage. And if you want to play an alarm at the end (if you haven't woken up) you have to setup some messy solution on your phone/alarm where you match the times, and then if you wake up before the alarm you have to manually disable it.īesides as I mentioned, I don't use this, it was a gift for my mother.

But none of them can properly match the colour changes and output of the Somneo wake up light, most bulbs can't properly emit the very low temperatures at the start, jitter/jump between outputs when ramping up. I had a look into the other options like the Hue Go, or LIFX bulbs in a lamp (Hue ones still can't match the colour temps). It also has some other features like wake. Here's a timelapse video of an older model. It also constantly monitors the air temperature, humidity, light levels, and noise levels and logs them in the app. The alarm sound effects are also things like birds tweeting or similar, or you can have it use its inbuilt radio. If you haven't woken up when it gets to the alarm then it turns on the alarm, starting quietly and moving up until it gets loud. So for example 30 minutes before the alarm it comes on at a very low colour temperature and brightness, then gradually gets brighter and moves to a cooler colour temperature until the alarm. It simulates a natural sunrise 30 minutes (by default) before your alarm. Thanks, but that's not really the same thing? The Somneo/SmartSleep wake-up light isn't a night light, it's a wake-up light. I'd love it if anyone could figure out the differences, and which one would be most appropriate for the UK? I don't think it'll be a difference of the colour of the wake up cycle, because else putting Canada in 70/60 doesn't make any sense. From what I can tell the 70/60 is aimed at the Americas, Australia+NZ, 71/01 is mostly Western mainland Europe, and 72/01 is mostly Nordic countries. HF3672/01 - Philips only list it on their sites for Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Belgium - minimal datasheet/adĬan anyone figure out the difference? The only thing I can see is that the 71 has 325 lumens, instead of 315, and that one version had won a design award. HF3671/01 - Sold in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands - minimal datasheet/ad (older one from 2018 here) HF3670/60 - Sold in US, Mexico, Canada, Australia - minimal datasheet/ad HF3671/01 - UK Amazon listing - Camel says it is priced at an insane £249.99, but it's quite clearly not, and their graph doesn't even show a price?Īnyway I plan to import one from another country, so my question is, which version should I get? I can't tell much of a difference between them, except that: HF3670/60 - UK Amazon listing - Amazon price tracker Camel says there has never been a price on that listing. There are Amazon listings up (and were in January when I last checked): But for some reason that still hasn't been released in the UK. Now my plan is to get the new wifi one I wanted originally. So I have returned the unit and will be getting a refund. A small soldering fix I'd have done myself, but not anything like that because the unit is still under warranty.

But on opening it up I found out the barrel jack receptacle had cracked into two pieces and would have to be replaced, or some jury rigged by just cutting the power supply cable and soldering it straight on. I initially thought the through-hole solder joints had came loose. It also continuously tracks the room temperature, humidity, and sound levels.īut a few weeks ago the power suppler connector broke off. I found out that they hadn't released the smart version at the time in the UK (althoughįor reference with the smart one connects to your wifi network and you can just set alarms on your phone and they work on the unit itself.

So I bought my mother a Philips Somneo sleep and wake-up light for Christmas.Īt first I was quite annoyed as I thought the version I bought was the smartphone version, but it wasn't, it was just the plain old manual control one, but she was happy with it and really loved it in the winter (she has sleep problems and it really helped). If anyone knows if any Philips reps browse reddit I'd also love it if you were to /u/ them.

I did message the mods asking them if it was ok to post but got no reply. But it is another smart light product my Philips, their Somneo range (now being rebranded as SmartSleep).
